The Chanel Show

“The best things in life are free, the second-best are very expensive”

– Coco Chanel

The 2015 Chanel Show at Saatchi Gallery in London was such a highlight. I guess not a single person in London missed it. If you did, better not miss it the next time round, if there is one! It was packed and had such a long waiting line outside. In spite of this, it was organized so well. Kudos to the security who handled the crowd remarkably.

Let me take you through some nice things that I saw in that exhibition.

The exhibition was showcased at the Saatchi gallery. The gallery is just so beautiful, spread across 3 floors with an amazing garden. It was the perfect space.

Mademoiselle Privé took us through a journey of the life of Mademoiselle Chanel, Chanel’s creations, its origins, Karl Lagerfeld, the iconic Chanel no. 5 perfume, the jewelry and much more.

The way the exhibition was integrated with its own app on the phone was a highlight. Being interactive and transforming absolutely still to moving image on the phone was a special touch to the show.

There was also a special workshop that you could book wherein you could learn how to embroider, learn flower making and also more about the perfume.

As you pass through from one room to another you come across Chanel’s history, the delightful Chanel No.5’s scent making chamber (the smell in that room!! Yumm), the dazzling jewelry room which showcases jewels that were secured by really cool high-tech laser sensor alarms. There was also a short film with Karl Lagerfeld and Coco Chanel (played by Geraldine Chaplin).

Apart from this along the wide space of the gallery, it was pleasant to see the workshop area and the space where we were surrounded by textures of beautiful overflowing materials.

Overall it was quite an exuberant experience. The show basically shows us why Chanel is what it is.

Here are a few pics from last year’s show.
